SP leader, wife, mom shot
By: admin | Nov. 1, 2022, 5:32 p.m.Zila panchayat member and local Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Rakesh Gupta (55), his wife (51), and his mother were shot dead by unidentified men at their house in Sathra village under Ushait police station in Uttar Pradesh's Budaun at Monday evening, city SP Amit Kishore Srivastava said. Gupta was earlier a block chief. Police said they are gathering more information about the crime and crucial details are yet to come in.
The crime took place around 6 pm when four armed men barged into Gupta's house & opened indiscriminate firing.
No one could gather the courage to stop the gunmen who fled soon after. Gupta's daughter had gone to the market at the time of the incident and had a miraculous escape, said police. SSP OP Singh rushed to the spot with forensic experts. "The bodies have been sent for autopsy," he said. An eyewitness, wishing anonymity, said the assailants entered the house through the main gate.
Rakesh's younger brother, Rajesh said that most of the other family members have moved to the city from the village "because of long-standing political rivalry back home".
