LUCKNOW: Slamming the previous UP governments, CM Yogi Adityanath accused them of "criminalizing politics" and "politicizing crime". Launching 243 development projects worth Rs 145 crore in Saharanpur, Yogi said that in the past five and a half years, UP has become free of riots and crime.

"Security is the top priority for us. Politics under those in power prior to the BJP regime had fallen victim to 'parivarwad' and corruption. A state, where hooliganism was at its peak, people were migrating and communal clashes took place every 3-4 days, has become riot-free today," he said.

"Security is the top priority for us. Politics under those in power prior to the BJP regime had fallen victim to 'parivarwad' and corruption. A state, where hooliganism was at its peak, people were migrating and communal clashes took place every 3-4 days, has become riot-free today," he said.

He said that under previous governments crime was so rampant that no one wanted to visit the state. And those who had made investments started migrating. Instances like Kairana and Kandhla used to occur, he said, adding that the investors were now coming back to UP with the restoration of law and order in the state.

Addressing a 'Prabuddh Sammellan', the chief minister said, "Saharanpur used to be referred to as 'seemant zila' (marginal district). It connects to the border with Uttarakhand on one side and has Haryana on the other. The woodcraft of this district has received global recognition."

At the same time, he said that the road connectivity has also improved. The CM said that Saharanpur has set new standards in cleanliness. “Housing is being provided without discrimination under the PM Awas Yojana. Under the PM Swanidhi scheme, 9 lakh street vendors in the state and 18,000 street vendors in Saharanpur have got the benefit of the facility,” he said. The CM said that there were infinite possibilities of investment in every sector in the state. The best industrial, biofuel, textile, and other sectoral policies in the nation are found in UP, he said. The CM also called upon the intellectuals to contribute to making UP a one trillion-dollar economy.
