Days after 26 people were booked for "an unauthorized mass gathering to offer namaz" at the houses of two Moradabad residents. UP police later withdrew the FIR on Tuesday after they found the complaint to be "incorrect" & the "video" provided by the main complainant, Chandra Pal Singh, and other villagers to be "fudged".

The group namaz was not offered on the said date, August 24, as claimed by the complainants, police said, adding that a "thorough probe" was conducted in the matter.

Moradabad SSP Hemant Kutiyal said, "The complaint lodged by Chandra Pal Singh about a mass gathering for namaz was found to be inaccurate and we are now quashing the FIR. The video provided by the villagers was probably filmed earlier, and they didn't have any other evidence to prove that namaz was offered in a mass gathering on August 24. A sub-inspector under the supervision of a circle officer (CO) was assigned to probe the case."
