The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has prepared a renovation plan but will take it up only when the district administration decides to stop traffic on the road on which the structure is situated.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has prepared a renovation plan & might take it up only when the district administration decides to stop traffic on the road where the structure is situated.
Standing 60 feet tall since the late 1700s, the vintage Rumi Darwaza will soon undergo renovation post experiencing recent damages. Small cracks have reportedly developed in the heritage structure over the years, which will now be repaired by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). For this, the surrounding bustling roads & traffic will be supposed to be on halt.

An official of the district administration said: "The district administration will act immediately once the ASI sends the proposal to start work on the Rumi Darwaza."

The historic royal gate which was constructed during the reign of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula (in 1784-86), will remain closed for renovation for a particular tentative time.
The rich architectural significance also is indicated by the legit fact that its design is identical to that of a portal in Turkey's Constantinople.
Further renovation is also about to take place very soon at the iconic Bada Imambada, soon after a portion of its parapet collapsed during the recent rains.
