Instagram has rewarded Neeraj Sharma, a student from Jaipur, with cash of ₹38 lakh for saving social media accounts from being hacked, which includes ₹35 lakh as a reward & rest of ₹3 lakh for due delay of bug fixing after a report from the Instagram Management.
As per the reports, Sharma detected a bug in Facebook's Instagram, through which thumbnails of the user account, could be altered by hackers without login credentials.
In easy words, if we don't know the account details, we can easily change the thumbnails of the reels we upload just after having the ID details of the particular account from where the reels were uploaded.
Neeraj himself first encountered issues with his Instagram account in December last year. He then identified the bug and sent a detailed report to Facebook-meta on January 31, 2022, which highlighted the possibility of altering the thumbnail of a public reel, according to Facebook.
