Shahid Mahmood
Shahid was born in Lucknow, Uttar-Pradesh on March 17, 1939, toured England in 1962 with the Pakistan side led by Javed Burki, and played in the Nottingham Test but went wicketless in six overs as the visitors drew the only match of the five-Test series which was won 4-0 by England.
Early Life & Career History
As a left-hand opener (opening batsman), and a useful medium-fast bowler, he toured England in 1962, where he was, bewilderingly, sparingly used y the team. By the time he was brought into the side for the Nottingham Test, he was out of form conclusively failed to impress; That was his only opportunity. Shahid continued to play with success in domestic cricket, and in 1969-70, playing for Karachi Whites against Khairpur, he became the first Pakistani to take ten wickets in an innings.
Mr. Mahmood played most of his domestic cricket from the Karachi region and was selected for the Pakistan team after doing an average of 44.21 in the domestic 1961-62 season, in which he scored 619 runs. Shahid went on to play domestic cricket till 1970 by making 3117 scores in first-class cricket at an average of 31.80 with five hundred and 15 fifties. In the final domestic season, Mahmood scored 163 runs at an average of 54.33, after which he moved out of Pakistan to settle in the USA.
Shahid became the first Pakistani bowler to capture all 10 wickets in an innings when he captured 10 for 58 for Karachi Whites against Khairpur in 1969-70.
